Jessandra -

Send me a note ( mmiedmonds at gee mail ) if you'd be content with an mp3 of this:

1963-05-04 Jerry & Sara, at the Tangent
Palo Alto, CA
Traditional folk songs, with Jerry on banjo and vocals. Ihor Slabicky: Garcia and Sara Ruppenthal met around the start of 1963 and performed as a duo on a number of occasions during the year. Recorded at the Tangent in Palo Alto on May 4, 1963. From the stage Jerry says they were married the same day and a notice was in the Palo Alto paper. My titles below are often tentative, based on refrains.

About 30 minutes long:

Deep Elem Blues
Will the Weaver[?]
Your Heart Shall No Longer Be Mine[?]
All Good Times Are Past and Gone[?]
Long Black Veil
The Man Who Wrote Home Sweet Home Never was a Married Man
Kenoe, Mean as He Can Be[?]
The Girl I Love the Best[?]

I agree - it really doesn't sound bad at all.

What ever happened to Sara? She had a daughter (Heather?) with Jerry? What happened to Mom and daughter? She wasn't bad - slightly monotone 'bluegrass' in her singing but ok --- she obviously didn't last very long after they separated - Jerry sounds pretty good and I again wonder where the terrific recording came from ... 2 years before I was born ....

OK, I've just about had it with this Dham guy...always making nice, always sending things to people, always with the constructive posts...I bet he's only posting here to make friends or some such sillyness. If I were a former DEAD soundman, I'd probably have a thing or two to say about him acting out in "William Tell" fashion, what with the clear and present danger of his crossing the line to make off site contact with...with...YES, with a member of the opposite sex!

This whole Forum is going to Hell in a handbasket, with Bob's help no doubt, since he'll provide a bucket if we get too big for our basket.
